The Air Time team is a family team and our family roots in flying with the wind date back to 1971. The Grant family loves ballooning, and you and your guests will be part of our family during your time with us. What we offer is far beyond just a balloon ride, it’s an experience. You may be thinking it’s just a ride in the air, but what you will look back on the rest of your life are the people you meet, the places you
go, the views you see, and the serenity of flight in a balloon. It is an experience that truly will become a lifetime memory. Our family touch even involves us personally photographing your flight, and giving you a CD of the pictures to help you relive the experience.
Pilot Ronald Grant has the utmost concern for safety above all aspects of ballooning. He was trained to fly hot air balloons at a FAA Part 141 school in Ft. Collins Colorado in the Foot Hills of the Rocky Mountains. He has held a FAA commercial pilot certificate since 1994, and has participated as a balloon pilot in balloon events throughout the United States. These events include the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in 2000, the largest balloon event in history with over 1,000 balloons from 27 nations around the globe. He has flown many passenger flights and commercial balloons.
In addition to his ballooning experience, Ron has been involved in several air sports. After serving in the US Army during Vietnam, he began skydiving and logged over 1,800 skydives between 1971 and 1988 participating in events across the country and participating in many record setting formations. He also owned and flew his own ultra-light aircraft. Between 1988 and 1993, Ron built and drove a 180 mile per hour rear engine dragster. He also has owned and driven off road dune buggies and high performance go-carts and boats, as well as various motorcycles.
